THE PAVILIONS

Surrey Fusion Festival will feature over 60 international pavilions and exhibitors showcasing food, music, dance, arts and crafts. The following cultural groups will all be represented in 2009 

| AFGHANISTAN (New for 2009!) Afghanistan's rich history, popular landmarks, and diverse cultures can be experienced by taking a tour of this pavilion. See photographs, books, and artwork depicting Afghanistan's culture and heritage. See hand-woven Persian rugs and traditional clothing and jewelry. And don't forget about the sumptuous, mouth-watering, and delicious kebabs, and other appetizers! ARMENIA Get a taste of Armenian travel and tourism. Learn the Armenian alphabet and see unique folk costumes and pictures. See books containing unique Armenian arts, architecture and history. Traditional artifacts, etched copper artwork, lacework, rugs and needlework will all be on site. Come taste unique Armenian food samples while listening to Armenian music and coffee cup readings. | BARBADOS (New for 2009!) Barbados, the most easterly of the Caribbean islands has a population of approximately 285,000 people. A popular tourist destination, Barbados also has ties to British Columbia. Port Moody was named after a Barbadian and Joe Fortes, a famous English Bay lifeguard, is from Barbados. The pavilion is proudly sponsored and organized by the Barbados Cultural Association of BC - www.barbadosbcassoc.com CHINA Come see traditional Chinese culture mixed in with modern Chinese lifestyle. Through pictures, and displays, you will get a small taste of all the great aspects China has to offer. Share in the excitement of the Beijing Olympics and Shanghai Expo 2010. | 

| ECUADOR (New for 2009!) Making their first appearance at the Fusion Festival, the Ecuadorian pavilion will be sure to excite visitors with its variety of foods, culture and live music. EL SALVADOR Join us for a great taste of El Salvador. Sample some delicious traditional food including Pupusas (hand-made stuffed tortillas), tamales, tacos, empanadas and more! The El Salvador pavilion, much like the country, will be a joyful and festive place to visit. We welcome you!

Learn how to make your own Aboriginal drum from scratch. Experience true Aboriginal culture through the many arts and craft vendors all providing authentic items. Experience true Aboriginal life by visiting the unique Teepees Displays and viewing the traditional canoe, Hesquell, which means "Strength of the Eagle". |  | GREECE Learn more about Greek culture, and history through the unique arts & crafts the Greek pavilion will have to offer. For all the kids and those young at heart come see all the interactive activities our pavilion has to offer. If you like Greek food then you wont be disappointed. Enjoy tasty Greek dishes including souvlaki, spanakopita, and tyropita, till your heart is content.
|  | HONG KONG Jewelry accessories, gemstones, painted hand fans, windmills, wooden miniatures, and karaoke fun. Plus other arts & crafts are all for sale in the Hong Kong pavilion. If you have an appetite, why not try some of the tasty treats such as dim sum, spring rolls, or fresh fruit shaved ice, or mango pudding in our food pavilion? | INDONESIA Visit the Indonesian pavilion and see the ultimate in diversity. With hundreds of dialects, ethnicities, and customs, Indonesia has so much to offer. Crafts, batik (traditional fashion), & traditional products, will all be on display. Be sure to sample some Indonesian food while you are there including corn fritters, beef rendang, sate, and vegetarian fried noodles. Experience the Culture and see beautiful pictures of the fabulous beaches, serene mountains, numerous waterfalls, and relics from the past.

| JAMAICA Escape to the Island of Jamaica and listen to the soft Reggae and calypso music stimulating that carefree Jamaican vibe. See the various images and expressions of Jamaica. Travel & Tourism information will be also be available. See an array of arts and crafts, clothing and other items that will be available for purchase. Also available for purchase will be Auntie Bev's Jamaican Jerk Sauce and Jamaican ethnic bakes. While at the pavilion, pick up a plate of Jerk Chicken or Jamaican Patties! | 

| KENYA (New for 2009!) The Kenyan Pavilion is brought to you by the Daughters of Hope International Community Association. This group is dedicated to working with African women for the purpose of stengthening and supporting single mothers and orphans in the East Africa region. They also work to share and educated local communities in Canada on the rich traditions and wisdom of East African music, food, craft, and communal activities. KOREA
The Korean pavilion will be offering a variety of unique Korean artifacts including celadon porcelain products, pottery plates, earthenware and woodcrafts. Join us for plaster handprint casts, 3-D plaster hand casts and face painting. Proudly sponsored by: Seoul House Korean Restaurant.

Join us for great tasting Mexican food. Transport yourself to the very common and traditional “Taco stands” from the famous Zocalo of Mexico City. Welcome to the Pakinstani Pavilion! Learn about Pakistan's history, culture, arts & crafts and tourism attractions. Showcasing traditional artifacts such as jewellery, bangles, leather products, dresses, rugs, and handicrafts. Join us for a unique taste of Pakistani traditional food and drinks, including Tandoori Chicken, Haleem with naan, or Chicken Biryani.

In the Palestinian pavilion you will get a great taste of all that is unique to the culture. Purchase hand made crafts and see the unique cultural costumes on display. We also have many other distinct Palestinian items for sale. Come and enjoy a taste of Palestinian culture in our food pavilion.

| ROMANIA (New for 2009!) With a focus on food, the Romanian pavilion will provide a wide variety of culinary choices for you. The Fusion Festival is excited to have Romania as a new pavilion at this year's festival! RUSSIA (New for 2009!) Russia is a country extending over much of northern Eurasia and by far the largest country in the world. The nation's history began with that of the East Slavs, which emerged as a recognizable group in Europe between the 3rd and 8th centuries A.D. Learn more about Russia by visiting the pavilion and sampling some of this country's traditional food including Borsch, Vareniki/Pelmeni (perogies), or traditional baked pastries!
|  | TAIWAN Taiwan, once known as "FORMOSA", means beautiful island and rich culture. Taiwan has a unique art called Taiwan hand puppets, and this show is the theme of this year's pavilion. The hand puppets tell a story of the history and the culture of the people of Taiwan. Stop by the Taiwan Pavilion to learn more!

Visit the Thailand pavilion for a true taste of this magnificent culture.
